I have not had this four in one long enough to give a good report on all the things it will do. Let me tell you what I do know ,and why I bought the 495. The paper tray hides inside the unit, very nice. Most printers today have the paper tray sticking out the front. I didn’t want that. The 495 is a nice size, not to large. The fax works fine, copy works fine, printing works fine. scan works fine. Let’s be honest, I think most people today are a half bubble off. This is a nice four in one. If you are moving up from a old unit, it will be different than your old one. In one or two years the changes can be over your head if you don’t stop and read, and take your time. I read all the reviews I could before I bought the 495. Most of the people that are writing these bad reviews out there should do there shopping at toy’s-r-us. This unit looks very good. If you like the looks, and what you read, and have half a brain, buy it, just take your time setting it up, It’s not hard.

I still hanve not been able to connect to my router. I emailed Brother and received emails back with info that I could see on their website. I called and they were not helpful at all. I had to ask the rep to repeat himself 3 times only because he was talking so fast. I have been able to copy and the quality is reallly very good. Once I get it connected I’m sure I will be happy with it.

I have used Brother multi-function printers in my home office for the past ten years. They have all (only two – they each lasted about five years)shown great versatility. The MFC-495 is no exception. It has very good paper handling. I have had no misfeeds or jams during printing or scanning with the paper tray or the auto-document feeder. The print quality is good, though I would not classify it as “exceptional”. Set up was easy and quick, though I have not set up the wireless features as of yet. I was hesitant to purchase this unit after some comments about noise and speed issues, but I have found it to be relatively quiet and acceptably fast at printing. I must add here that this printer is being used as a home printer and only sees about 10 pages use per day. Scanning is great and the Paperport software that comes with the printer gives the user a lot of options on how to organize and alter your scanned documents. This printer has a nice small footprint for an all-in-one too.

I have always been impressed with Brother’s build quality. They seem to be sturdier and more well constructed than the other major brands. The controls are well set up and easy to understand. GREAT PRINTER! Brother has done it again.

I have wanted a wireless printer for some time now. We have 3 laptops and 1 desktop with a wired printer in our basement. It was always so inconvenient to want to print from the laptop and then have to go downstairs to do so. So after reading the reviews on the wireless printers available, I settled on this one.

Wasn’t thrilled with the shipping package, the box was too large and the surrounding cushioning in the box was lame. But after opening the box the printer came in, I found all to be in order and un-damaged.

Setting up the printer was a snap following the directions. Two CD’s came with it, one for Windows 7, and one for the rest. I had my printer up and running in 20 minutes or so.

The print quality is fantastic as far as ink jets go, and I love the separate cartridges for each color. I also ordered another set right away so I have it handy.

Granted, I’m only 3 days into using my printer, and I have used it everyday that I’ve had it now. Love Love Love it! Brother products have always been reliable in my book.

One last note, the paper feed tray is a bit flimsy, but every thing is made with cheap plastic these days. Just needs to be handled with care.

After consulting with a friend I chose this Brother printer as an all purpose printer. It set up easily and is easy to use. Amazon price was great and shipping was free and very fast.
