Bought this printer only because all our old printers will not work with my new laptop with Vista. Printer works okay but sometimes paper jams and printer gets “amnesia”. But my biggest gripe is that the printer arrived with missing software and I had the extra expense of purchasing said software from the HP website and had to await arrival of software before I could even set up my printer. I am a college professor and my time and documents are very important.

I had my own experience with HP printers a few years ago and vowed to never buy another. But this one was a gift for a friend and this is the one he really wanted. I tried to set it up and the cartidge lights kept flashing and the carriage would not position itself where ink cartidges could be inserted. After waiting for this to stop (all night) I contacted HP support. Hours of e-mail exchanges later they admitted that it was bad out of the box. The next day they phoned and wanted to know where to ship a refurbished replacement. Am I missing something here? A printer that I’ve had for 36 hours and that has never had ink in it should be swapped for a refurbished one? Hey, on second thought, what a great business model! Sell “new” products at top prices, knowing they don’t work. Replace them with old used crap and pocket the difference. Brilliant!

Odd that HP would make portable printers and ultra portable computers that are mutually incompatible.
The HP Mini has one resolution – 1024X576. The HP H470b won’t install without 800X600.
Two online support requests advised changing resolution – which is impossible with a Mini.
Third attempt accomplished escalation of the support request – 4 days ago – no additional support forthcoming.

This printer was quick and easy to install and use. Had it working in five minutes including adding ink cartridges! No problems connecting to an older laptop. Printer cover is not as sturdy as had hoped, but it is a good product.

I received this product as scheduled; the installation was simple; the use of the product was easy; the printing is great; and the compactability is unbelievable! My magical thinking tells me that I need to petition HP to add a scan capability to it. Bryan
